FAQs

About Conflict Coaching & Mediation

01

What is the difference between conflict coaching and mediation?

Conflict coaching is a one-on-one process where I help you develop skills and strategies to navigate conflict effectively. Mediation is a neutral, structured conversation between two or more parties to resolve a dispute with my facilitation. Mediation is a voluntary process where two or more parties come together, with the help of a trained mediator, to better understand and resolve their conflict. The mediator, a neutral third-party, guides the conversation using specific processes and communication skills.

02

How do I know if I need conflict support?

If workplace tensions, leadership misalignment, or unresolved disputes are affecting productivity, morale, or decision-making, it’s time to take action. For individuals, if conflict is causing stress or uncertainty, conflict coaching or mediation can provide clarity.

03

Is everything confidential?

I commit to keep all conversations, whether coaching or mediation, private and confidential unless there is a legal or ethical obligation to disclose information (e.g., harm to self or others). That said, I cannot control what you or the other parties in a mediation do, so I cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality. Read my blog on this topic: Why I Don't Promise Confidentiality In Mediation.

04

Is mediation legally binding?

Any agreement reached in mediation can be legally binding if the parties choose to formalize it into a contract or submit it to a court for approval. However, the process itself is voluntary, and parties are not required to reach an agreement. It is always important to consider hiring an attorney to review the terms of any agreement you come up with before signing it, especially if you are making commitments that affect your legal rights.

04

What are the benefits of mediation and alternative dispute resolution?

The benefits of mediation are that it is preventative, gives you flexibility and control, is informal, gives you space to tell your story, is future focused, preserves relationships, saves time and money, improves quality of live, and provides clarity. For Businesses

01

How does workplace conflict impact my business?

Unresolved conflict leads to higher turnover, lost productivity, and disengaged employees. It can also create legal risks if issues escalate. Addressing conflict proactively saves time, money, and protects workplace culture.

02

What types of businesses do you work with?

I primarily work with startups, SaaS companies, and growing organizations that want to build strong workplace communication and conflict management skills. However, I also support HR leaders and executives across various industries.

03

Do you only help resolve existing conflicts, or can you help prevent them?

Both. I provide proactive conflict prevention strategies (like leadership coaching, training, and conflict culture assessments) as well as conflict resolution support for ongoing disputes.

04

Can I bring you in to train my leadership team?

Yes! I offer customized training sessions for leaders and teams on handling workplace conflict, difficult conversations, and strengthening communication.

For Individuals

01

What types of workplace conflicts do you help with?

I support professionals facing unfair treatment, difficult bosses, coworker disputes, career misalignment, and high-stakes workplace negotiations.

02

Do you only handle workplace conflicts, or do you mediate personal disputes too?

While my primary focus is workplace conflict, I also provide mediation for business disputes, family discussions (estate planning, end-of-life decisions), and personal conflicts like breakups (excluding divorce) and co-parenting issues.

03

What if the other party doesn't want to mediate?

Conflict coaching can still help you strategize, communicate effectively, and navigate the situation on your own, even if mediation isn’t an option.

04

How long does coaching or mediation take?

It depends on the complexity of the situation. Some issues can be resolved in one or two sessions, while others may require ongoing coaching or multiple mediation meetings.
